Geography Bowl

1) What is the world's largest river?
2) What is the world's saltiest body of water?
3) What country has the most land area?
4) What is the world's largest creature without a backbone?
Do you know these?
These are just a few out of 50 questions Kayla had to know for today's geography class. This is our first year participating in the Geography Bowl class. This particular class meets monthly for about 1 1/2 hours and includes a lesson along with the bee (competition part). Of course, it is girls against the boys! At first, Kayla wasn't too excited to go, but in the end she was jumping for joy as her friends were there and they had a great competition. The boys won today, but I bet the girls will come back strong next month.

We are very lucky to have one of our veteran homeschool moms teach this class. Her kids have gone on the win the state and national geography bees and one is even attending Harvard! Just amazing!
The turn out today was great with over 40 kids. I am sure they all won't return next month, but Kayla is sure to return and is ready to study the next 50 questions "State the facts". They are using the Abeka Geography Bowl data, trivia and important concepts book.
